Mostra Outros Cinemas Film Festival

The first edition of Mostra Outros Cinemas took place in 2008 with the realization of Sereia Filmes, with the proposal to open a new space for the dissemination of Brazilian and international audiovisual production. In the first few years of activities, the Mostra Outros Cinemas Film Festival exhibited more than 100 films, enabling young directors to expand access to their productions and contributing to the dissemination and valorization of the Brazilian audiovisual market. Even with the considerable increase in film production, broadcast channels for short film works are still scarce, often restricting themselves to screenings at competitive festivals. Thus, each platform, vehicle or initiative that allows the dissemination of these films is fundamental for the valorization and expansion of this sector. The Mostra Outros Cinemas Film Festival, which encorages a competitive environment, reaches its 10th edition this year after a brief haitus in the last few years and will have a 5-day schedule, with the exhibition of selected shortfilms under the curatorship of Anelise Barbara.

The name "Other Cinemas" expresses its concept well, because its main proposal is the exhibition of contemporary films made by brilliant and creative filmmakers and young people from all over the world, without forgetting the dialogue with other generations. It will be other looks, other speeches, other feelings and other aesthetics, very different from those established by the large entertainment market. We want to dare, experiment and make room for the different.
